Frequently asked questions about the Aircraft Parts Certification course
1. Why a course on the certification of parts and appliances?
Before a part can be fitted on an aircraft in Europe, it must be designed, approved and produced under Part 21. Choosing the wrong route costs months. This course gives you a clear map of the options.
2. Who is this course for?
Design office engineers, manufacturers and suppliers of parts and equipment, quality and certification managers, and anyone preparing an ETSO, a DOA or a POA.
3. How long does the course take?
About 3 hours. It includes 7 videos, 8 PDF sheets, 6 modules with practice quizzes and a 20-question final exam. You can stop and resume whenever you like.
4. What is the course based on?
Part 21 (Annex I to Regulation (EU) No 748/2012) and its AMC and GM, Regulation (EU) 2018/1139, and the ETSO certification specifications (CS-ETSO).
5. What score do I need to get the certificate?
You need at least 80% correct answers in the 20-question final exam (16 correct answers). You have two attempts.
6. How much does the course cost?
The course costs €85 (VAT included). The price includes access to the videos, PDF sheets, quizzes, final exam and digital certificate. To train a team, request a corporate quote.
7. What is the difference between an ETSO and an approval within a type certificate?
An ETSO authorisation approves an appliance against a minimum performance standard, independently of any aircraft. A part approved within a type certificate or an STC is approved for a given product. Module 4 explains both routes.
8. Do I need my own DOA and POA?
Not always. Many companies start with a partner design organisation and production organisation, on low-criticality parts, before applying for their own approvals. Module 6 helps you choose a strategy.
9. Can I take the course on a mobile or tablet?
Yes, the course works on computers, tablets and smartphones. You pick up where you left off.
10. How long is the certificate valid?
The certificate has no expiry date. We recommend a refresher whenever Part 21 or your procedures change significantly.
