Frequently asked questions about the Airside Safety course

1. What is co-activity on the apron?

During a turnaround, several companies work at the same time around the same aircraft: ground handling, fuelling, catering, cleaning, maintenance. This co-activity multiplies the risks: collisions with vehicles, aircraft damage, falls, jet blast, propellers. The course teaches you to spot these risks and act safely.

2. Who is this Airside Safety course for?

Ramp agents, baggage handlers, loaders, GSE drivers, fuelling, cleaning and catering staff, air bridge operators and anyone who works on the apron.

3. How long does the course take?

About 7 hours. It includes 7 videos, 11 PDF sheets, 7 modules with practice quizzes and a final exam. You can take it at your own pace, in one go or over several sessions.

4. What is the course based on?

The ACI Airside Safety Handbook, INRS guidance on co-activity in ground handling, Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/20 on ground handling and the IATA Airport Handling Manual (AHM 1110). Labour law references are taken from French law; outside France, local labour law applies. The certificate, signed by a qualified instructor, can be shown during audits.

5. What score do I need to get the certificate?

You need at least 80% correct answers in the 20-question final exam (16 correct answers). You have two attempts and can review the content before the second one.

6. How much does the course cost?

The course costs €45 (VAT included). The price includes access to the content, videos, PDF sheets, quizzes, final exam and digital certificate. To train a team, request a corporate quote.

7. What are the main hazards on the apron?

Collisions between vehicles and with the aircraft, pedestrians struck by vehicles, jet blast and engine ingestion, propellers, falls from height, manual handling, noise, FOD and fuelling hazards. Each module shows how to prevent them.

8. Is this training mandatory?

Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/20 requires initial and recurrent training for ground handling staff, applicable from 27 March 2028. Employers must already train their staff in safety under occupational health and safety law. This general course does not replace your airside driving permit or the training specific to your job.

9. Can I take the course on a mobile or tablet?

Yes, the course works on computers, tablets and smartphones. You pick up where you left off.

10. How long is the certificate valid?

3-year validity: maximum recurrent training interval of 36 months set by Regulation (EU) 2025/20 (ORGH.TRG.100), applicable from 27 March 2028, and already recommended by IATA AHM 1110. Your employer's or the airline's requirements may be stricter. Plan your refresher training before it expires.
